The Devils are a staple in New Jersey and the last remaining major sports franchise that hails from Jersey. Originally known as the Kansas City Scouts in 1974, they relocated to Colorado in 1976 as the Rockies, in which both cities they struggled to build a fanbase or find success on the ice. In 1982 the team packed up and relocated to New Jersey, branding themselves as the Devils after the famous folklore creature, the Jersey Devil. Originally wearing red and green, they changed to red and black in 1992. The Devils struggled again to attract fans and on the ice, but after hiring a new GM in 1987 the Devils made the playoffs in 21 of the next 24 seasons. Totaling 9 Division, 5 Conference and 3 Stanley Cup Championships (1995, 2000, 2003) during that time! With that success came the fans, some of which were Flyers or Rangers fans residing in Jersey, who were excited to now have a home team! The Devils currently reside in Newark, NJ calling The Prudential Center their home. Over the last 40 seasons they've celebrated several careers including Scott Stevens, "Mr. Devil" Ken Daneyko, Patrik Elias, Scott Niedermayer and Martin Brodeur, all of whom have their numbers hanging in the rafters! The Devils have a bright future ahead with stars like Jack Hughes, Nico Hischier, Timo Meier, Dawson Mercer and Jesper Bratt leading a talented young team!
